CDI 2002
Community Development Institute 2002
This web site is to complement the two Vancouver Community Network (VCN) workshops to be presented at the Community Development Institute (CDI) in Prince George during July of 2002. The site will remain as a permanent resource.
The workshops are the result of a partnership between Vancouver Community Network, the Community Development Institute and the Prince George FreeNet.
#58 Using the Internet for Community Development
1 day participatory for mixed levels - details
How would the Internet function if it was designed by community leaders
for the public good? Through presentations, discussion, and exercises,
explore using the Internet as an organizing tool, and develop strategies
and local initiatives to take advantage of the Internet. Hear about
success stories as well as sources of funding and support to tackle local
issues, and generate an action plan for a project that links rural and
urban issues.
#57 Online Tools (workshop cancelled)
1 day hands-on for beginners - details
This session provides a safe environment in which to develop skills in
using Internet tools for research, communication, and collaboration. Spend
the day online in the computer lab learning basic Internet skills. Find
out how to use collaborative tools, how to publish a simple web page, and
spend time exploring a permanent library of resources. Examples and
techniques of interest to those working on environmental, developmental,
and social justice issues will be emphasized.
