UNESCO has conducted a pilot project with Union Iberoamericana de Municipalistas (UIM). The members of UIM, mayors and high functionaries of cities in Latin America, have been invited to fill in a questionnaire on the policies concerning Social Exclusion / Social Integration in their cities.

They were requested to describe the characteristics of their project(s) and to assess its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks as well as to give information such as contact addresses, references to publications and research institutes.

Realisation of the pilot project

• The submitted best practices will be evaluated by specialists.
• On the basis of an evaluation of the pilot project, other collections of best practices will be started in all world regions.
