Water Sampling Station Tours 

These tours provide a marvelous way to 
discover our area 
and to learn 
the reasons for water sampling. 

The best part is that 
YOU 
can participate in the sampling process. 

These tours combine 
an educational experience 
with the great outdoors.

Tours each three weeks, rain or shine.  Come for a hatchery tour and coffee before we leave.

SAMPLING TOUR FOCUS: Visit five water sampling sites, collect samples and do water quality tests in the Noons Creek and West Noons Creek watershed. Visits to several other water sampling stations in other nearby watersheds might be included, time permitting.

TOUR DETAILS: Rain or Shine; Meet at Noons Creek Hatchery/Lab Building at 9:00 am, S a t u r d a y ,   O c t o b e r   6 ,   2 0 0 1 ; Located:  Immediately behind the Port Moody Recreation Center, at 300 Ioco Road, Port Moody (follow the signs).  

Next Tours:  every three weeks thereafter on Saturday mornings 9:00 am - 12:30 pm.

 Tests  Include:

Dissolved Oxygen; 
Air Temperature; 
Turbidity; 
Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD); 
pH; 
Water Temperature; 
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS); 
Coliforms (E-Coli); 
Nutrient Testing; 
Benthic Macroinvertebrates (Aquatic Bugs).


TOUR DURATION: 3 hours (9:30 am to 12:30 pm).

ITINERARY:

9:30 am: Leave: Noons Creek Hatchery building and, depending on volunteer and observer turn out, car pool to first water sampling station at Noons Creek and the BC Hydro right-of-way service road, Coquitlam. Second sampling station:  Noons Creek and Diamond Crescent, Coquitlam. Third and fourth sampling stations:  Noons Creek and Panorama Drive, Coquitlam.  Fifth sampling station:  West Noons Creek and Panorama Drive, Port Moody.

12:30 pm: Return:  Noons Creek Hatchery building; de-briefing; complete tests; coffee and donuts; wrap.
