GENERAL INFORMATION –

Exhibit Assistant

Duration: 12 weeks, May , 2007 to July, 2007

Rate of pay: $10.25 / hr plus 4% vacation

Language: English essential, French an asset

OBJECTIVES, TASKS & WORKPLAN

  1. Safety- Ensure security and safety of the Museum, visitors and themselves, measure – zero incidents
  2. Design and install “Laundry Through the Ages” display, measure – display developed on time, on budget and high quality
  3. Maintenance of displays, measure – improvements in labeling, cleaning and creative additions
  4. Special events: assist in planning, organizing and production of openings, measure – team participation in the successful implementation displays for events: Canada Day, Freightshed opening and Laundry Through the Ages
  5. Future displays – develop ideas for future displays that promote the mission of the Museum, measure – number and appropriateness of themes
  6. Interpretation - interrupt displays and conduct tours of the museum, measure – comments in visitor’s log
  7. Other varied duties – as a small museum must be able to do what is needed, ie meet visitors expectations – measures varies

EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

CANIDATE PROFILE: Exhibit Assistant

Field of Study: Education, History, Design or Cultural Management sector, at least completed first year of study

Computer Skills: competent level of MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel. Benefit Adobe Illustrator
