Positions are for 35 hours per week, maximum of 16 weeks for the summer of 2007

Rate of pay $10.05/hr

Weekends required.

Must meet Service Canada criteria of 16 to 29 years of age, been a fulltime student and returning to studies

Education Programme Assistant

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure safety and security of the museum, visitors and themselves
  2. Evaluate existing programs and improve functionality
  3. Develop new programs and tools to increase museum capacity in delivering community based programs
  4. Expand programs for children and seniors
  5. Assist in the management and operation of programs
  6. Assist with proper care and handling of photos and artefacts
  7. Interpret displays and conduct tours of the museum- English essential, French encouraged
  8. Translate programs to French
  9. Participate with biannual special event

Competencies

  6. Management and maintenance of displays
  7. Assist in special events: planning, organizing and production
  8. Assist volunteer and staff involvement on projects
  9. Participate with biannual special events

  4. Data entry of accessions
  5. Explore feasibility of adding finding aids in French
  6. Prepare photographic records of the collection
  7. Check accuracy of existing data base
  8. Assist in the development of new displays for children and seniors
  9. Participate in biannual special events
  10. .Interpret displays and conduct tours of the museum English essential, French encouraged
