1. JOB TITLE

Education Project Coordinator

2. JOB SUMMARY



  • Working with the Education Committee, utilize and evaluate available resources of various program materials and assessment criteria to develop, market and pilot educational programs.

 


3. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Duties/responsibilities

  • For Board approval, Research and develop the education policy and programs

    • including the use of the Internet as a program delivery tool, of other museums similar to ourselves.

    • Prepare a draft list of programs and outlines in accordance with approved policy and IRPs.

    • Obtain input from SD43 and Retired Teachers Association of program outlines.

  • Implement program

    • Determine resources including new opportunities and partnerships.

    • Develop tools required for implementation of the programs (educational artefacts, school trunks, game/craft equipment and supplies). This requires work with the Museum’s collection. Develop ways and means of marketing the educational programs.

    • Develop Education programs, workshops and seminars for children and adults as approved.

    • Pilot the programs and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Evaluate the programs

    • Write two interim reports and a final report.

  • Conduct overview of School District 43 Curriculum: Integrated Resource Package, (IRPs) grades K through 12.

    • Obtain input from SD43 and Retired Teachers Association of program outlines.

  • Develop a project plan for the Internet as a program delivery method and how it can be best utilized by the Museum.

6. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED


ESSENTIAL

Education & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in History, Humanities, English, Business, Science, or related field of studies, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

Experience:

  • Experience working with school-aged children and the general public

  • Public speaking skills and experience working in group settings

  • Experience working both independently and as an effective member of a team 

  • Strong communication skills

  • Volunteer supervision or experience an asset

  • Proficient with various software programs, including MS Office, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Photoshop and other design applications

  • Marketing experience

Regular Part-time

Temporary (10 month contract)

Hours of Work: 35 hours/week with flexibility as some weekends and evenings required

B) Rate of Pay: $18.00/hour
