Where are we now?

• British Columbians and the Internet - Published by the BC Information, Science and Technology Agency in January '98 with research conducted by Angust Reid. The survey shows a wide disparity of Internet use across socio-economic boundaries
• VolNet - Voluntary sector survey of Internet "readiness" conducted by Industry Canada in 1997. The survey shows that while half the charitable organizations surveyed use the Internet many felt a need for further support and training.

Public Space and Universal Access

• Model for Electronic Public Space - from a workshop held at the Faculty of Information Studies, University of Toronto workshop in the fall of 1997. Towards a comprehensive Canadian model for "Public Space Community Networking"

• New Community Networks: Wired for Change - the most comprehensive printed resource, by Doug Schuler, 1996
• Charity Decision - Precedent setting Federal Court of Appeal decision on free electronic network access and communication as public goods

Representation and Policy input

• Telecommunities Canada - National body representing community networks and freenets. This group has a representative on the Electronic Public Space Steering Committee.
• BC Community Networking Association - Provincial body representing community networks and freenets, located in Victoria.
• Key Elements of a National Access Strategy: A Public Interest Proposal. The current articulation of a way to move from here toward the vision of "Public Space Community Networking". Draft Version - June 28, 1998 (since updated, check site)
