Membership
Application: Membership application is processed at the library front desk. All applicants are asked to show a photo identification and one more I.D. that shows the age of the applicants. A membership fee (as explained below) is necessary for all applications to complete.
Membership Fee:An important source of income for the Chinese Community Library, membership fees are used to help maintain the facility and the day-to-day operation. Please support the Chinese Community Library by becoming a member.
Children (under 12 years old): $2 per year
Adult: $10 per year
lifetime: One time donation of at least $500.00
* The membership runs from the date of application to the same date next year except lifetime membership..
Members Rights and Privileges
Borrow circulating library materials from the Chinese Community Library.
Use the reading room services.
Participate in programs (additional fees may be required for some programs)
Members over 18 years of age have the right to:
- vote in membership meetings
- seek nomination to the Board of Directors at the
Annual General Meeting
Loan Information
Members of the Chinese Community Library Services Association in good standing may borrow circulating materials. Please note that cards issued by other libraries cannot be used at the Chinese Community Library.
Each member may borrow up to eight (8) items at one time on his/her library card. They can be a combination of books, magazines, videos and audio cassettes.
Members with children's membership cards may borrow materials only from the children's collection.
Below is a table outlining the loan period, loan limit and overdue fines for each different type of item:

Maximum Fines
Please note that the maximum fines that can be levied on loans is $10.00.
Renewal
Books, magazines and audio cassettes may be renewed once for three weeks. Video tapes may not be renewed.
To renew library materials, please bring them to the Chinese Community Library. We regret that we are unable to offer telephone renewal service at this time.
Lost and
Damaged Items
The borrower is responsible for taking good care of the items that he/she takes out from the Chinese Community Library. The borrower will be charged replacement cost plus processing fee for lost or damaged items. If an item is found to be damaged on the shelf, please ask the staff to withdraw it or record the damage before taking it out.
