This extremely rare rock has been examined under a petrographic microscope at the university of British Columbia Canada . It is called porphyritic dacite. Porphyritic refers to the fact that there are larger crystals of weathered feldspar.

This rock is highly weathered over millions of years, which make each piece unique. So far this rock has only been found in Port Alice, B.C. The iron-bearing minerals have been completely decomposed and that is what gives the iron oxide spheroidal patterns. It is 20-25 million years old.
