Food Fair on Sunday, May 18. It is a fundraiser for the cyclone victims in Myanmar
(Burma). This food fair is being organized by the Myanmar Community, a group
of concerned individuals without political affiliation.
The funds generated from the food fair will be sent to NLD HQ in Burma, through
special channels that we are unable to disclose. If you require more information,

If you however wish to donate a large amount of money for the Myanmar cyclone
victims, and require a tax receipt, in addition to supporting the food fair,
you are able to do so by attending at the Buddhist Monastery on any given day,
at the address noted on the poster. The funds received will be given to the
Canadian Red Cross. The Monastery can only accept cash or cheque and you will
be required to provide your full name and address to which a tax receipt will
be mailed to you by the Red Cross. Please call ahead prior to visiting the Monastery

Please note that besides the above noted channels, we have not authorized anyone
else to collect funds, either on behalf of the Monastery or the Canadian Red
Cross.

There will also be a vigil/prayer ceremony at the Monastery this coming Sunday,
May 11, 2008 at noon. As is the Buddhist custom, alms will first be offered
to the monks prior to noon hour, after which the prayer ceremony will begin.
It is a potluck, so please bring bring what you can.
