We have a general-purpose email address for questions about the CommunityNet. But please, before using this email address, check out our online documents first! Nearly all of the queries to this address could have been answered by a quick check over our online material. And since we're volunteers here, and we're swamped with tons of email every day, a quick bit of reading on your part is really appreciated!

  First are our helpPAGEs. These are the single-sheet handouts available at many public libraries. We have online versions you can read as well. Most common technical help questions are covered in these help pages!

  All kinds of useful stuff here! If you're looking for our membership agreement or our mission statement or our official constitution, check here.

• Non-technical FAQ
  "FAQ" stands for "Frequently Asked Questions" and our Non-technical FAQ answers the most commonly asked questions about the CommunityNet that have to do with the organization rather than the computer stuff.

• Technical FAQ
  Our Technical FAQ, on the other hand, goes into great detail into some of the more complex technical aspects of the CommunityNet system. Check this material out if you're interested in the nuts and bolts of our operation.

At risk of sounding repetitive, please remember that we are not a general Vancouver information service. We are a community network, and we try to facilitate communications within our community.

So in other words please don't send us email asking for Vancouver tourism information or asking us to look up phone numbers in the phone book or the health of the Beluga whales in the aquarium or other general Vancouver-type questions. (these are actual questions that people mail us with, by the way) We really don't have the staff and volunteers to answer such general questions!

You'd be better off posting a general query to a public newsgroup like bc.general or van.general. If you don't live in Vancouver and want to find a phone number in town dial (604) 555-1212 for BC Tel's directory assistance. Vancouver telephone books are available at most Canadian libraries. For job information, you can buy the Vancouver Sun or the Vancouver Province at bookstores across Canada. Both newspapers also carry rental and housing information, though the former is more complete than the latter.
