VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Community Developer
Objective: To link information technology with community development principles
Training/Support to be provided by: Community Learning Network Project Co-ordinator
Duties:
Essential Qualifications:
- To use community development principles to enhance the use of information technology at several public access sites in the lower mainland
Assets:
- open mindedness and ability to work with diverse groups
- knowledge of webpage development or willingness to learn
- solid organizational skills
- knowledge of VCN and non-profit organizations
- ability to meet time commitment outlined below
Time Commitment Required:
- grassroots organizing experience
- understanding of asset-based community development practices
Location: VCN office, 411 Dunsmuir Street, community access sites throughout the lower mainland
- mimimum commitment of 4 months or more is required of all VCN positions
- at least 4 hours per week, with additional time to attend orientation, training and meetings and collaborate online with other volunteers and staff
