Vancouver New Stage
Theatre Society was incorporated under the Society Act on January
20, 2005, and obtained charitable status as a non-profit theatre
society on May 17, 2005.

mirrors its creative mission by its name:
Vancouver stands for the need to reflect the life of our city through the
talent of its artists.
New stands for the dedication to a new and innovative approach to
creating theatre in our community.
Stage stands for the commitment to be responsive to and respectful of
our audiences.
Vancouver New
Stage's creative mission is committed to:
- produce and promote the work of Canadian playwrights and creatively unite these works with an international repertoire of plays that speak to Vancouver audiences and their experience of life in our city
- establish a new play development programme based on professional dramaturgy
- forge an innovative approach to engage and nurture our audience
- support creative efforts of progressive Vancouver artists
- create an active liaison with progressive artists across the country
On December 7,
2005, Vancouver New Stage officially announced its creative
mission to Vancouver City Hall (Office of Cultural Affairs).
On December 15,
2005, Vancouver New Stage officially announced its creative
mission to the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts
simultaneously with the official announcement of the "Earle
Birney: Celebration of Vancouver" project featuring the
works of Vancouver's legendary poet and Canada's literary giant
Earle Birney.
Canada Council for the Arts had
been presented with Vancouver New Stage's declaration confirming
both official announcements.
