In the early Sixties, Raymond Rodgers and Peter Jennings were neighbours a few houses apart, and members of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery. Rodgers was Ottawa Editor of Canada's leading intellectual periodical, Saturday Night, and taught a course in political science at McGill University - to which he commuted twice a week. Jennings, having no university education at all, would occasionally ask Rodgers to explain some of the intricacies of government.
In the same period, Rodgers was regular political affairs commentator on
Ottawa CBC TV's "Afternoon Edition". The staff announcer was Lloyd
Robertson, who later moved to CTV. (Rodgers later in the 1968-70 period
again broadcast political commentaries on CBC TV, in Winnipeg, three of
which were [and again here are] reproduced in Man
in the Telesphere, dated as when given.
