Looking backward at a life well lived

My resume

2011 Production and distribution of a CD then in October - Joined Occupy Vancouver.

2010 Willing worker on organic farms while trying to find an intentional community to be part of.

2008 & 2009 enjoying a life of solitude on the frontier while living on a mountain in the Okanogan valley for 15 months I lived alone in a log house on mountain seven miles from a town with only a bike for transportation. The conditions were strident as it was a severe winter. I was able to gather & cut wood, clear some land, establish 3 gardens. All the hard work got me into good shape.

2000 to 2007 Writing and learning: I took some courses to improve my writing skills and continued my study of the impact of technology upon human social systems.

Webmaster and programmer
For the past eight years I have maintained 2 sites on the World Wide Web. As the originator of these web sites I am responsible for the sites design, page layout, typing or scanning in of the text, and writing of the html code. Please note that these were not personal web sites, but rather were done, (as a volunteer,) for a coast-to-coast non-profit educational organization.

Writer and author
I worked full time (for free) at a non-profit research and educational organization. I like to write about science and our North American society. In addition to many articles related to this subject I have written a 300 page book. The book I wrote could be categorized as contemporary history. It deals with the impact of technology upon human social systems with a personal s rendition of what North America was like during the nineteen sixties and what it will most probably be like here in the new millennia.

Other types of employment

Journalism and desktop publishing with Ventura publisher
version 1.1. While working as a computer consultant I became the head of a team which computerized the production of a science periodical

Construction
As a bricklayer apprentice and member of the Bricklayers Masons Plasterers International Union, I helped build many buildings, attended trade school, learned estimating, drafting, design.

self employed
as a glassblower. Putting to use the skills I had acquired as a glassblower I established and operated my own business; namely, the manufacture and merchandising of laboratory and ornamental glassware I got married again

Student
this time it was at a technical school where I learned scientific glassblowing.

Social work
I devised formed, and managed an organization, which provided services for the elderly and infirmed allowing them to remain in their own homes longer. I received recognition from the then Prime Minister for a successful completion of this contract. This federally funded project involved the hiring and supervising of 13 workers, I did the book keeping and dealt, successfully, with federal bureaucrats. I got married again.

Tourist
I decided to become a hippie drop out. For a couple of years I was traveling throughout North America dig’n the scene.

Finance
I was licensed by the British Columbia Securities and Exchange Commission As an equity investments consultant I sold mutual funds, other securities and term life insurance. My motivation for getting into this part of the establishment was to amass a fortune in as short a time as possible so I could work in my laboratory and further my science which had been directed into inorganic chemistry prior to this. I made a great deal of money quite fast and was soon living in posh surroundings. After meeting some hippies who introduced me to mind-bending self examination I saw the light and dropped out of the establishment and henceforth lived a life of self imposed poverty. One can imagine how many times since that I have questioned the wisdom of this choice!

Factory worker
where as well as making rubber I molded it into rubber goods. I was also a mill operator, and a hydraulic press operator.

Merchandising
at various times throughout my life I have returned to working in the pharmaceutical industry and have functioned in most sectors of it such as, direct counter sales, filling prescriptions, in laboratories, purchasing, stock control, shipping and receiving. I got married.

Frontiersman in suburbia Right now I am at Vancouver. My two bags are packed and I can leave here anytime ASAP.

I am happy doing the things required for farm life so you will have some help with chores & projects for a time and we can discuss my staying on or not.

I am a mature happy man without any problems who is trying to find a place to live within a group that has a self-sufficient farm community as their goal; a place where I can build a small house,  grow potatoes & cultivate medical plants, where I can find peace through stewardship of land.
