2009 REUNION - BONUS PHOTOS

These two used to crack me up, listening to them on weekend mornings back in the day. Jay would deliver his hourly newscasts in his professional, authoritative style and just as he thought it was safe to turn off his mike, Brian would engage him in some outrageous conversation, drawing him in and always ending up giving the listener a big smile and an even bigger laugh before heading into the first record. It all sounded so easy, so effortless and so fun... but since then I've rarely heard such on air chemistry anywhere else. They were just part of what made CHOO Radio so special.

Brian was not only a first class morning man but could cold read copy in any character voice imaginable.

Don't forget - there are still a few CHOO Reunion toques left. Contact this site right away for details on how to get yours! And... let us know if you'd like to see other CHOO retro logo merchandise.

RIGHT - Famous American radio comedy duo "Bob & Ray" - Bob Elliott & Ray Goulding - circa 1980s.

It was while I was at CHOO that Brian and Jay - and Tom Edge earlier - helped turn me on to the subtle and surreal radio comedians Bob & Ray. Bob & Ray had got their start in local radio in Boston before becoming big network radio personalities throughout the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 1980s. Their comedy was particularly suited to radio - creating wonderful characters and situations through dialogue and sound effects. Everyone in radio loved them. I interviewed Bob around the time I was at CHOO.

If you have old CHOO stuff lying around in your attic or basement... why not scan it and send it along?

We also want to digitize your old CHOO airchecks before the oxide falls off your tape! Let us know what audio you have (but don't send it just yet.)

Late March 2010 Update... It's been great hearing from everybody - how much you enjoyed the CHOO reunion lunch back in December 2009... Looking forward to hearing YOUR recollections and getting your old CHOO photos... It has been especially encouraging to see how many "Friends of CHOO" have generously shown their active support for this site - many thanks again to everyone on the list!... The next major update will be on the next page - go take a look!
