C.M.E.S. exists to promote neighbourhood television. We
have three goals: participation, public access, and independent
administration of the community channel.
C.M.E.S. actively intervenes for participatory TV with the Canadian
Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and networks
internationally with groups who have similar goals.
For funding, C.M.E.S. relies on memberships and donations. C.M.E.S.
encourages media education both in a personal sense and also as a broad
public campaign.
C.M.E.S. has been operating since 1997 but some members have 10, 20 or
30 years experience with community television in B.C. |
