English as an Additional Language
Many immigrant services organizations offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) instruction. Please see Immigrant Services section for more information on organizations offering EAL instruction. Most of these organizations hold classes at various levels throughout the year for different age groups. Others may even provide child care for students. Guide to Grammar and Writing This is an excellent online guide to writing and grammar. Grammar rules are illustrated with examples and an interactive quiz complete with explanations to incorrect answers. This site also deals with writing on the essay level with tips on the writing process, structure and patterns of composition.
University of Illinois - The Online Writer's Workshop Explains and illustrates basic grammar rules. Provides advice on various elements of the writing process, citing bibliographical references, writing techniques for different types of writing (thesis, resumes, reviews, proposals). There are also links for writers and English as an Additional Language (EAL) students. |
