Federal Government

Income Security Program
Information about Old Age Security Plan (OAS), Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). Also included is information regarding international agreements on pensions.

Employment Insurance
Another section of the Human Resources Development Canada(HRDC) website provides detailed information about Employment Insurance (EI).

Social Insurance Number (SIN)
A Social Insurance Number is required for many official purposes in Canada. This HRDC site contains information on applying for a SIN, fees involved, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Provincial Government

Medical Service Plan
The BC Ministry of Health web site provides information about the Medical Service Plan. Information includes the extent of benefit, eligibilty and enrolment, Carecards as well as contact numbers and addresses for those wishing to seek further information.

BC Housing

BC Housing web site provides information about affordable housing for families, Seniors, and people with disabilities who can live independently and qualify for a disability pension, or who cannot work because of a disability. Generally, people are eligible for housing if their household income falls below an amount set annually and their rent exceeds 30 per cent of their incomes.
