The Vancouver Community Network owns and operates a free, publicly accessible, non-commercial computer utility in the Lower Mainland of B.C. which provides a public space on the internet.

Training Support
Volunteers in this area provide assistance to professional trainers delivering basic, intermediate and advanced internet and email skills sessions to participants in VCN's various community partnership initiatives. Volunteers also lead training sessions for users and volunteers in regularly scheduled VCN sessions and special workshops.
Positions available:
Basic requirements for positions in this area:
- Exceptional people skills (interpersonal and communication)
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
- Four-hour shifts in User Support for period of orientation; shifts must be alternated with training following orientation
- Adult tutoring or teaching experience
- Intermediate to advanced internet skills
- Ability to help users with varying levels of skill and confidence
- Ability to take instruction and determine priorities
- Value and respect for diversity
Assets:
- Knowledge of VCN and non-profit organizations
- Knowledge of various browser and email software programs and configuration
- Knowledge of basic html and Arachnophilia web design software
- Additional languages
