Monica Franz, MA Counsellor & Therapist |
I work primarily with adults working with issues of challenging life transitions, sorrow, grief, cultivating mindfulness, and working skillfully wtih difficult emotions. I also offer couples counselling for heterosexual and same-sex couples. It is my understanding that much of our suffering arises from distortions we've learned or inherited as children or from historical wounds, losses, and traumas that have remained unresolved. We thereby can become alienated from our authentic, spontaneous and naturally joyous self, projecting to others our fears, sorrows, self-imposed limitations and resentments. These distortions and their projections can interfere with our relationship to others and to ourselves, eroding our capacity for happiness, invoking frustration and despair, confusing our intention and obscuring our vision for ourselves. Counselling and therapy that is of value encourages us to wake up, to lift the veil of these distortions and see reality as it really is, to recognize and embrace ourselves as we really are. |
If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery |
