Naturescaping

And this!
The concept of applying natural diversity to landscaping is not a new one. Gardeners, farmers and landscapers have long recognized that native plants, and the many bird, insect and wildlife species they attract provide long-term benefits to crops, fruit bearing plants and general aesthetics and property values. However, many landowners in urban areas are unaware of how to go about applying these principles to their property, or where to source the materials to do so. As a member of BC's Naturescape Program, the society works with private landowners to enhance the native biodiversity of their properties. This includes re-introducing native plant species as part of an overall mix to add beauty and functionality to lawns and gardens. The society has two main projects it has worked on with private landowners which have become benchmark sites for showcasing the value of this type of work. To find out more about these projects and others the society has undertaken, and how you or your organization can become involved or receive practical experience please contact us. You can also see some of our projects virtually through reviewing module 7 & 9 in the ©Watershed Wise Program.
