This picture, of the Marine Building in Vancouver was taken in Vancouver in 1940 by a member of the Lefler family. You can see Hallelujah Point and Stanley Park in the background. The buildings were a little shorter then. Hallelujah point got it's name from the weekly loud Hallelujahs and tambourines playing from the Salvation Army meeting held there. This is a view from Stanley Park looking towards North Vancouver, with the Lion's Gate Bridge in the foreground and probably a union steamship at bottom. (Photo courtesy Dave Lefler) |
