Volunteering
Support VolunteeringSupport Volunteering is an excellent way to work yourself into visiting volunteering. We need volunteers to support our many fund raising activities such as "Treasures of Christmas", Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse, and BT Voices for Hospice concert coming up on October 14, 2000. Without the support of our volunteers, we could not carry out this important work in our community. You could also serve on the board, deliver or post calendars as well as serving tea on the palliative care ward. We need volunteers for every activity we participate in. Visiting VolunteeringIf we could sum up in one word what our volunteers are trained to do, it would be to "LISTEN". Volunteers are trained over a 30-hour course that includes topics such as "What to say to a Dying Person", Palliative Care/Hospice concepts, Needs of the Terminally Ill and Their Families, Loss and Bereavement and Grief, and Listening Skills. You are supported throughout the entire training and then supported when you receive your first assignment. We focus on the living, not the dying of each of our patients and their families. |
